EML to PDF Converter

Convert EML to PDF for free in your browser: each email is saved with its subject, sender, recipients and date above the message, plus a list of attachment names. The .eml file stays on your device and is not uploaded.

How to use the EML to PDF converter

  1. Add the emails you want as PDFs: select one or many .eml files with the button above, or drop them on the box in one go.
  2. Check the preview that appears for each email.
  3. Each row in the list has its own “Save as PDF” button. It opens your browser’s print dialog; choose “Save as PDF” as the destination (the wording differs slightly between browsers) and pick where to save it.

Everything happens in your browser with JavaScript. The emails are not sent to a server.

What is an EML file?

An EML file is a single email message stored as a text file, in the same standard format that mail servers use to pass messages along. Mail programs produce one when you save or export a message.

The catch is that you need a mail program or a viewer to read it. An accountant, a court clerk or a customer may have neither, and document systems often refuse the format. A PDF opens on practically every device and looks the same on all of them.

Why convert an EML file to PDF?

Converting gives you a copy of the email that anyone can open and that will not change.

Records and bookkeeping

Order confirmations, invoices sent as email text and written approvals are easier to file as PDFs next to your other documents. The date and sender are printed at the top of the page, so the PDF makes sense on its own.

Emails handed over in a dispute or a complaint are commonly requested as PDF. Keep the original .eml too. The PDF is a readable rendering, while the original holds the complete headers and is the stronger evidence if anyone questions where the message came from.

Sharing

Forwarding an email changes its layout and adds your own details above it. A PDF shows the message as it was received.

What happens to attachments when you save an EML as PDF?

The PDF lists the attachment names but does not contain the attachments themselves.

Part of the email In the PDF
Subject, from, to, date Yes, at the top
Message text Yes, as selectable text
Attachment names Yes, as a list
Attachment files No, download them separately

Download each attachment from the preview and store it beside the PDF. If you only want to read the email and pull out an attachment, the EML viewer is quicker.

How do I convert many EML files to PDF?

Add all the files in one go and work down the list. Each email gets its own preview and its own “Save as PDF” button, and each is saved one at a time through the print dialog. There is no single button that exports the whole batch.

If your emails are inside one mailbox archive and not separate .eml files, open it with the MBOX viewer and save individual messages from there.

Frequently asked questions

Is the text in the PDF searchable?

Yes. The message is written to the PDF as real text, not as a picture of the email, so you can select, copy and search it.

Can I combine several emails into one PDF?

No. Each email is saved as its own PDF. If you need one document, merge the PDFs afterwards with any PDF tool.

Does the PDF show the full email headers?

It shows the subject, from, to and date. The full technical headers, such as the servers the message passed through, exist only in the original .eml file, so keep that file as well.

Why is there a web address and a date printed at the edge of my PDF?

Your browser adds those to printed pages. Most browsers have a Headers and footers option in the print dialog; turn it off before saving.

Is there a limit on file size or the number of emails?

There is no set limit, no account and no watermark. The only ceiling is how much memory your device has.
